"Learning the Fun Way"
Self Description
            I think that the way to learn a language is not through rote learning, rather, it is by reading, writing and speaking more in that particular language. I am not a fan of the traditional way of teaching, i.e. grammar rules, standard literature, etc. Instead, I think modern times call for modern ways. I would try to get to know the student--what he/she likes, his/her hobbies--and use that as a starting point to get the child to read, write and talk on those subjects mentioned above. I scored A's in all my English exams, including SPM and 1119. I also scored a 650 in the TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) exam. While studying in an American college, I was a writing tutor and a teaching assistant. For these two jobs, I basically taught the other students how to write good essays. I also corrected their work and gave ideas on how to improve it. I am comfortable speaking in English, and I believe I have good diction. I can also speak Mandarin, Malay, and Hokkien (the northern version :)

           I graduated from college with Magna Cum Laude honours in International Economics and Management, with a minor in Writing. I was on the Dean's List for several years, was listed in Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges, and received several other scholarships and awards while in college. In college, I was also a teaching assistant, and a writing tutor.
