Self Description
i took on the field of Education after my graduation with a Diploma in Mass-Comm because i see that education is important and that i am able to contribute my time and passion to making a difference in a child's life. I have been teaching in an international school and have seen different ways of approach in education that is not offered in our government systems. My personal belief is that a child should not look at books as a form of punishment, but rather a stepping stone to their future. I developed a very close relationship with my students and till now after they have graduated from my class a couple of years ago, they would still call me out for a drink and catch up with life, my reason for this is to allow children to approach a tutor with ease and respect, and that would help them to open up their doors to learning with a fun attitude instead of fear for a tutor. However i do set the rules, and approach every child with different attitude, as each of them are special and different, and would require different means of communication.
Proven Track Record
One of my student came to me with fear of Maths and refuses to try even the simplest question. His fear came from his previous school's teacher for beating him on his fingers every time he got a wrong answer. After 6 months with me he began to try his Maths questions and by the time he graduate at the end of the year he scored a 50% improvement from his previous paper. I encourage children to speak up, as another student of mine is an introvert and does not communicate well with her classmates, I've taken time to encourage her to start asking questions because as i spoke to her on a one-on-one basis, her questions are intelligent and may be of good help to her classmates, I help build her self-esteem and now she's scoring top in her class and is no longer the quiet girl as she used to be.
Achievement
Studied science stream in my secondary school. Graduated with distinction in Mass-Comm diploma. Currently obtaining my Diploma for CIDTT (Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers)
