Self Description
            I grew up in a typical Chinese co-ed environment. I learned my English through my father, who studied in an English school. Growing up with Mandarin speaking peers, I fully understand what are the barriers faced by typical Chinese kids in learning English, and the ways to overcome them. Throughout my life I have been helping friends out with their English, to which most of them admit that my advices and tips on how to learn the language have been helpful. I personally feel that, the main reason why I am able to help primarily Mandarin speaking people to grasp the English language is the fact that I know both languages well. I learned Mandarin up until my STPM, where I got a B+. That is why I am comfortable in conveying the methods of learning English to Mandarin speaking people. On my teaching experience, I have been a part-time tutor for two years during my Form Six years. I ran a small class of three at my own house and took up another two students whom I tutored at their place. All of the kids were aged between 8 and 11 years old. I can't say for sure that I have been able to boost their grades, but I can say for sure that their parents were satisfied, as I keep getting calls from them asking me to resume class with their kids (I stopped my classes after my undergraduate course started). My current full time job is as a subeditor for a law journal publishing company. My primary job function is to subedit bilingual official judgments of tax and intellectual property cases in China and Hong Kong.
