Self Description
            I have strong desires to help students with educational, emotional, and vocational needs, as these are teacher’s works. I am patient, resourceful, and inspire respect, trust, and confidence. I possess leadership skills as I was leader when I was a teacher, besides, I have excellent listening skills, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. I have the abilities to put into perspective the wide range of minor and major problems that I encounter in my caseloads. And I am a good problem solver. I am sober and calm when facing problems. Other than these, I have high self-concept and always seek for growth. I did attend some courses to learn more, to be more advanced in my career. I was the class teacher for the last class of standard 6 (12-tear-old) in a Chinese primary school. As Piaget mentioned in his cognitive developmental theory, 12-year-old children are in final stage of concrete operational stage and enter to formal operational stage. I have to understand the dramatic changes during their development, and educational psychology help much in my teaching life. As I understood their thinking and feeling, I found easier for me to approach them. Actually they were in a confuse stage about whether they were still children or adults. In early adolescence, children undergo significant changes in their social and emotional lives as well. Partly as a result of their changing physical and cognitive structures, children seek to be more grown up. They want their parents and teachers treat them differently. The relationship between teacher and children become more complex. Some preadolescents choose teacher as role models, but some openly challenge teachers. I would like to continue my teaching life to explore more about children’s learning style, behavior, thinking and etc.
